Our Goals
The goals of Kuranda Envirocare are shown in our constitution, which was reviewed in 2007. The goals are listed under the headings of Vision Statement, Aims, Guiding Principles and Key Values and Threats.
Vision Statement
“Kuranda and environs is a place where the natural environment is valued and protected.”
Aims
“To conserve and repair biodiversity. To educate the community to value and protect biodiversity.”
Guiding Principles
“Community involvement and participation. Ecological sustainability. The precautionary principle. Respect for ourselves and others. Organisational democracy and accountability. Advocacy for the environment. Education and competency.”
Key Values and Threats
“The key values include – vegetation integrity, landscape ecological integrity, protecting biodiversity, high water quality, clean air.”
“The key threats include – rainforest clearing, residential subdivision, weeds and feral animals, water pollution, air pollution, noise.”
