Alisterus scapularis 41-44 cm
They are seen mostly in pairs or family flocks. They feed in foliage and near the ground. The photo shows an immature male. The female is mostly dark green with a red belly, bill grey and eye yellow. Keeps close to heavier forests including rainforest with the breeding season around September to January. Nest is in decayed debris or in a deep hollowed tree, usually a eucalypt. |
